Biography

Balthazar Klarwein’s career has evolved in an eclectic and experimental way. He started filming and editing medium-length skate films in his teenage years on the plaza of the MACBA in Barcelona, what lead him to study film direction of photography and soon after start his career in London making fashion films for brands such as Burberry, Chanel, Stuart Weitzman, Mango, Desigual and Massimo Dutti, among many others, as well as creating contents for magazines such as Vogue, Dazed & Confused, V Magazine, Desilusión…

In his most personal projects he tries to understand his reality through the juxtaposition of elements of commercial culture, spirituality, gender studies, surrealist humour and social critique, which makes him a multifaceted and contradictory character. Balthasar makes music videos, documentaries and video art too, being his work “Lamentación en las Ramblas” one of the most significant and part of the collective exhibition “Mi Ocaña”, a tribute to artist José Pérez Ocaña.
